Since our last email, more than 100 people have emailed us to ask if there’s any petition to sign or way to convince Acorn TV not to cancel Whitstable Pearl. The unfortunate answer is that cancellations are only rarely overturned or picked up by other networks - but Acorn TV does have a “requests” page you can use to tell them what you want to see. Returning British TV Shows…
Casting databases have added some updated information about a few popular shows. Art Detectives will begin filming season 2 in August, the newly released A Woman of Substance will head back to filming in November, and Mobland will begin filming season 3 in September (season 2 premieres on September 18th).
British TV Book Updates
A couple updates - the Endeavour and Vera-inspired coloring books are both in stock now, and we’re expecting a small refresh shipment of pretty much everything in 2 days, so we’ve added the stock to the website for those who wanted to get a head start on ordering (or avoid making separate purchases). We’ve had a tough time keeping the coloring books in stock because the print lead time is relatively long and we didn’t expect them to be quite so popular.

THIS WEEK IN BRITISH TV
On BritBox, all episodes of the new season of Beyond Paradise are now available. On the 10th, they added a new season of Escape to the Country (four new episodes arrive every Friday through September 25th). On the 14th, season 2 of Return to Paradise premiered, and on the 23rd, they’ll add Gone, a thriller in which Eve Myles plays a detective trying to figure out what happened to a missing music teacher from Bristol.
On Acorn TV, the 20th brings us new episodes of season 19 of Murdoch Mysteries (season finale), season 5 of Harry Wild, Summertide, and season 2 of Inspector Ellis. On the 13th, they added season 2 of True Crime Story: It Couldn’t Happen Here, followed by the New Zealand series Dear Murderer on July 20th.
On PBS Masterpiece and PBS.org, new episodes of the final season of Grantchester (11) continue weekly on Sundays through August 2nd.
On Netflix, July 17th brings Heartstopper Forever, which is adapted from the sixth and final novel in Alice Oxman’s Heartstopper book series. It’s very much a YA series, but Anna Maxwell Martin (Ludwig) and Eddie Marsan (The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe) are both among the cast.
On Apple TV+, new episodes of season 5 of Trying continue to drop weekly until August 26th.
On BBC Select, July 16th brings Tom Read Wilson’s Magnificent Tour of Europe.
On Hulu, look for Pompeii: Out of Time with Tom Hiddleston on the 23rd. It’s also on National Geographic on the 22nd.
