A couple quick British TV news updates…
House of Guinness will begin filming season 2 in early 2027. You can watch the first season on Netflix now.
Sir David Jason is going to appear in a new Open All Hours special celebrating 50 years of the beloved comedy. No word yet on whether an American streaming service will carry it, but it will air May 7th in the UK. Incredibly, it will include a brand new scene from 96-year-old creator Sir Roy Clarke (one of the most prolific comedy writers in British TV history - the same man behind Keeping Up Appearances and all 31 seasons of Last of the Summer Wine).
What we’re…
Watching: Can You Keep a Secret? - Dawn French (Vicar of Dibley) stars as a grandmother who fakes her husband’s death to get the insurance money - but things get complicated very quickly. Mark Heap (Friday Night Dinner) plays her husband.
Reading: Turn the Dial for Death by Jeremy Vine - If you enjoyed Murder on Line One (a competent, vaguely literary mystery novel by British TV presenter Jeremy Vine), you may also want to check out this, the follow-up. It’s not on the same level as Robert Thorogood’s Marlow Murder Club or Richard Osman’s Thursday Murder Club - but the concept is fun. In this one, radio presenter Edward Temmis helps a wife whose husband has been murdered, leaving her the prime suspect.
We’ve just opened up pre-orders for the upcoming 11th edition of the British TV Streaming Guide, and we expect the first print run to arrive here in early May (with shipment the next business day). Pre-ordering guarantees your copy from the first batch.
~230 pages cover 25 US-based streaming services, telling you which British TV shows are available on each and what they're about. No need to give yourself carpal tunnel clicking through endless on-screen menus.
An alphabetised index for when you know the name of the show, but not the streaming service.
Size 12 font! Even as the guide has gotten longer, we’ve avoided shrinking the text because we don’t want it to be unreadably small.
Each edition has bonus features in back. This time, we look at under-the-radar and interesting early appearances by well-known British actors.
A "Renewals & Cancellations" section that offers status updates about which shows are returning (or not).

On the 1st of May, they’ll add the film The Limehouse Golem with Bill Nighy (whose name I always accidentally type as “Nighty” before correcting it), and on May 4th, they’ll be adding the psychological thriller Dead & Buried, as well as the Canadian police procedural The Murders.
On PBS Masterpiece, The Forsytes premiered on March 22nd, and new episodes continue weekly on Sundays (final episode tonight). The Count of Monte Cristo is also available now. If you’re a fan of the Italian series Inspector Ricciardi, it’s also worth mentioning that season 3 is now available.
On Netflix, the 21st brought the psychological thriller Unchosen, which follows a young woman who lives with her husband and daughter in a cloistered religious community - whose isolated existence changes when an escaped prisoner arrives. On the 29th, they added the reality series Should I Marry a Murderer? May 4th brings the recent BBC adaptation of Lord of the Flies.
On Starz, season 8 of Outlander premiered on March 6th. New episodes air weekly on Thursdays through May 15th.
On AMC+, season 2 of the dark Irish comedy SisterS premiered on April 22nd (binge premiere). New episodes of The Audacity continue on Saturdays, and while it’s not British, it DOES feature British actress Lucy Punch (Motherland).
On HBO Max, Half Man premiered on April 23rd. Jamie Bell and Richard Gadd star, and it follows two men who bonded as kids - who were then brought together 30 years later at a wedding, only to find everything seems different.
Six mature-friendly shades. One mascara that actually stays put.
Most mascaras promise length… then leave you with smudges, flakes, and clumps by lunchtime.
That’s why so many 50+ women are switching to PrimeLash.
It’s a tubing mascara designed for your lashes, wrapping each one to lift, define, and separate...even the ones that might be too small to see.
And when it’s time to take PrimeLash off? It slides right off with warm water. No rubbing or irritation.
From everyday black to soft brown, plus bold shades like Emerald, Burgundy, and Mulberry… there’s a color for every kind of day.
Get longer-looking lashes with zero smudge. Finally.
