First off - we hope everyone is staying warm and safe this weekend! It’s a great time to stay in, be cozy, and watch British TV (if you’re able to). If you’re one of those hardworking people who help keep roads clear, power on, and essential services running - thank you!
If you’re a Stephen Fry fan, now’s your chance to own a piece of his personal history (assuming you have 1.3 million pounds or so to spare, anyway). The actor and author’s childhood home in Norfolk has hit the market, and it boasts more than 7000 square feet of living space in the main building, along with a 2BR annex.

What we’re…
Watching: Shakespeare & Hathaway, Season 5 - Even though the series doesn’t have a complex ongoing storyline, I like to wait until most or all of the episodes are available before getting back into something. With episode 10 arriving this week, the long, cold weekend is a great time to start.
Reading: A Drowning Tide by Sarah Lawton - I bought this one in a Sherman’s bookshop in Maine the other day, and I was surprised to later see Amazon US doesn’t even have a Kindle or Audible version of it (just paperback and hardcover). It feels a bit like Ludwig or Marlow Murder Club. The reclusive leading character, Merry, lives on the Isle of Wight and creates cryptic crosswords for a living, and she also enjoys wild swimming (this will sound VERY familiar for the Marlow Murder Club fans). When her neighbor disappears, she sets out to find him. The premise is not very original, but it scratches that “I want more of the same, but a little different” itch.
Our latest British TV Streaming Guide (US Edition, Winter 2026) is now available.
241 pages and more than 2500 different shows you can stream in the US.

There is something essentially English about seaside candy floss. Its quite revolting. Goes with the grey sea and the fried food, and the appalling hopelessness of all those dead people dragging their lumpen bodies up and down waiting for the blessed relief of autumn, where they can let their brains fur over and their limbs atrophy while they crawl back into their holes and spend their winter breaking wind in front of the telly.
