Today’s big British TV news: Prue Leith has announced she’s stepping down from The Great British Bake Off (aka The Great British Baking Show in the US) after nine series.
Leith joined the tent in 2017, following Mary Berry’s departure, and quickly became an essential part of the show’s new era. In her announcement, she described Bake Off as “a fabulous part” of her life, but said that at 86, the time feels right to step back - especially with plans to spend more summers enjoying her garden and focusing on other projects.
Her exit follows her earlier departure from the celebrity version of the show and marks the end of the current judging lineup alongside Paul Hollywood. Her replacement has not yet been named.
Our latest British TV Streaming Guide (US Edition, Winter 2026) is now available.
241 pages and more than 2500 different shows you can stream in the US.
