One quick update before we get into the rest - we just spotted a notice that Grace would begin filming season 7 in April 2026. That’s great news for fans of the John Simm-led, Brighton-based crime drama. Still no word on a season 6 US premiere date, though.

What we’re…

  • Watching: Scarpetta - This one’s not British, but if you enjoyed Patricia Cornwell’s book series (or if you’re just short on new crime dramas right now), it’s well worth a watch. Nicole Kidman stars, and Simon Baker (The Mentalist, I Give it a Year) also appears - as does Cornwell herself in a brief cameo. It follows forensic pathologist Dr. Kay Scarpetta as she investigates murders in the late 1990s.

  • Reading: Murder on Line One by Jeremy Vine - Written by British TV presenter Jeremy Vine, this Sunday Times bestseller follows a late night radio talk show host sleuth who helps a listener get to the bottom of a suspicious death. It’s not as skillfully written as many bestsellers in the genre (it can be quite heavy on description and “pretty sentences” instead of just moving along), but if you’re a patient reader, it offers a great premise with some fun twists.

Do you know how often we find gold? Never. We never find it. That's what we're looking for. We don't say that; we don't say we're looking for gold; we pretend we're happy, y'know, finding buckles and buttons and crap, but what we're hoping for is gold. Find one piece of gold - something that's been held by a Saxon, or Roman, or one of the other ancient peoples that once roamed this land before us.
